Official launch of iMonitor 2.0

We are pleased to announce the official launch of iMonitor 2.0, a European project co-funded by the European Union through the Internal Security Fund (ISF). This initiative, part of the 2024 call for proposals dedicated to combating corruption, combines big data analysis and citizen monitoring to enhance transparency and integrity in public procurement.

The project was officially launched on Monday 12 May 2025, at an online meeting attended by the consortium partners, representatives of the European Commission and the coordination team led by the Institute for Governmental Transparency (GTI). The meeting marked the start of a new phase in the fight against corruption in public procurement in Europe.

The iMonitor 2.0 project aims to:

  • Provide reliable data on public procurement through the Opentender.eu platform, enhanced with corruption risk indicators.
  • Train and support networks of citizens, students, journalists, and NGOs to monitor procurement, particularly in high-risk sectors like construction and climate-related projects.
  • Establish national networks of public authorities, civil society, and the media to facilitate reporting and strengthen anti-corruption efforts.
  • Deliver detailed monitoring reports on targeted contracts to relevant authorities for investigation.

The project spans eight European countries: Italy, Romania, Catalonia (Spain), France, Bulgaria, Albania, and Poland, with local pilot actions and a strong transnational dimension.

The next consortium meeting will be held in Budapest on June 20, 2025, where partners will continue strategic planning and prepare for the launch of national activities.
