About the project
In the EU, there is a general contraction of marginal areas of local economic activity in favour of their concentration in more densely populated areas, which of course leads to increased unemployment and poverty. These are conditions that also lead to the depopulation of these rural areas, with flows concentrating on the larger urban areas. The reduced capacity of rural areas is also due to a decrease in the entrepreneurial skills of the population which prevents the full realisation of this potential. In addition, in these areas there is a lack of participation in community life.
One possible response to this scenario is social enterprises (SE). These are socio-economic entities based on the production of benefits for the communities of reference through the involvement of citizens in the planning, production, financing and operation of activities. SEs are therefore ideal places where renewed participation and responsible citizenship are expressed and reinforced.
The ComEnter&RC project (Social Enterprises & Responsible Citizenship for Youth and Women) intends to invest in policies and instruments that facilitate the development of SEs, while fulfilling a double objective: to promote the employability of youth and women, who live in rural areas, and to address common local needs. The aim is to support the learning of skills needed to combat depopulation and impoverishment of marginal areas through the creation of HEs.
Resources of the project
– A training course for social enterprise creation. This will be a pathway for skills development and active support for the start-up of a SE, including a skills self-assessment tool, a training pathway for improving entrepreneurial, visual and relational skills and operational models for the start-up phase.
– A portal for social enterprise development. This will be an online tool accessible to all and free of charge to implement and use the resources of the training course.
