On the 24th of April, SOLUTION has organized a poetry workshop in the framework of the Poetry Goes Outside project.
The workshop began with a round-table discussion during which each participant had the opportunity to share his/her relationship with poetry. To get the conversation going, François, a teacher and poet, shared a few quotes from renowned authors, sparking a debate on what poetry is today. Each participant also had the chance to share his/her own relationship with writing.
From theory to practice
After analysing various styles and techniques such as the sonnet, anaphora and prose using a collection of diverse French poems, the participants put their knowledge into practice. They began by writing a short acrostic poem about a city as a warm-up, before moving on to free writing. From accounts of personal experiences to more politically engaged or symbolic texts, the participants demonstrated great creativity within this poetic framework.
The workshop concluded with a group reading and the creation of videos in which each text came to life through spoken word.
The participants appreciated the balance between François’s technical guidance and the freedom to be creative. Given the general enthusiasm and the quality of the final videos, one thing is certain: poetry is very much alive and well!
