What is EmpowHer about?
EmpowHer is a new transnational Erasmus+ project including partners from 3 different countries: Le Tre Ghinee, the lead partner from Italy, Incirliova Genclik Kultur Sanat ve Gelisim Dernegi from Turkey and Solution : Solidarité & Inlcusion from France. The project started on the 1st of November 2022 and will last 16 months. The partners met online on the 22nd of December to discuss the first steps of the project!
The main goal of EmpowHer is to increase educators’ knowledge on the contents and principles of the Istanbul Convention, in order to improve their skills in organizing workshops about gender issues and succeed in raising awareness among a high number of young people about preventing and combating gender-based violence and foster women’s empowerment. This will be achieved by increasing their involvement through a methodology that integrates theoretical explanations and practical exercises.
The tools used to raise awareness and knowledge about the principles contained in the Istanbul Convention to target groups will be:
- Local Activities composed of practical-experiential workshops and more theoretical thematic meetings;
- A guidebook including one section with the methodology to be used, another section where two examples of activities implementation and an appendix collecting good practices.
Through these local activities and guidance, the project strives to engage and train a high number of trainers, who will then be able to independently develop workshops on the issues of gender discrimination and violence, thus involving a large number of young people, who will learn about the Istanbul Convention and become themselves promoters of a more equitable society attentive to women’s rights.
